Sufi Whirling Workshops
Jun 4 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 1:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating until Jul 2, 2023

Sufi whirling is a practice which moves us into surrender, love and eventually trance. It is a practice of purification. Traditionally, students of Sufism would first learn calligraphy and art, sciences and philosophy before learning to whirl. In todays time, we are gathering ourselves in the spirit of surrender and love. This work stems from the Turkish tradition which is inclusive. You may come and join the caravan, in a safe and protected space, to get what you need to navigate your life in this moment. You might join the caravan as your path, which is especially profound. You might just come and experience.
Live music is provided by Seren Rose and Lewis Wavecrest. A combination of frame drumming, guitar and vocals. When we are lucky, we also have a saz player who joins us.
The ground of the event is held by Hannah Jewel. She will bring us together through meditation, breathwork or instruction as the day decides. A mesk, or little sema, where we have the opportunity to chant, whirl and sing together then follows. There is time for integration at the close. Hannah is connected to a teacher in the Turkish tradition. The space is held in relationship to this lineage.
