Laura came to me with significant early childhood trauma to resolve. She had previously been through years of counselling and recovery treatment. Through her previous work, she was able to focus on both her job and her passion of making art. She was articulate about her healing process. At the time of coming to me, her intention was to release the bodily trauma still present in her tissues. She also hoped to gain more confidence in herself and a stronger sense of emotional freedom.
Laura and I began with polarity therapy and relaxation. This helped Laura to establish a core sense of safety. As she felt safe, her nervous system began to unwind, slowly giving permission to engage the core wounds.
Laura then chose a combination of mentorship and ritual to deepen her process. During this phase of Laura’s work we focused on visibility and being accepted. Laura was able to identify places in her life which were replays of previous trauma. She was able to discern which parts of her experience were her own, and which parts she was carrying for others. Laura became more clear with her boundaries and more accepting of the world as it is.
When Laura was ready we went back to polarity therapy and this time brought in craniosacral therapy. Deeper trauma had begun to surface with the mentorship and ritual process, and we wanted to address it through the bodywork. With polarity therapy we were able to release tissue memory and trauma frozen in the deep areas of the pelvis. Bringing in craniosacral therapy we opened flow and communication across the body.
In releasing the tissues of the pelvis, and then unwinding tissues in the neck, communication was restored between the mind and body.
